Emménager - Moving

We have arrive! After 1 year in the country side family vacation home, Louis and I found a place where we will call home! Saint-Jean-De-Luz, a costal town in the Basque country. Just on the border of France and Spain.

It took 1 friends Mercedes Van and our Volvo Station Wagon (Volvo break
en français) to load all of our things and move. Through friendly connections I found us an incredible 3 bed room apartment just in the middle of downtown, 3 minutes from the beach and 2 minutes to the daily market. It is a lesson to always be kind and social because you never know where it will lead you!

There is a feeling of power when you feel fully yourself, when you feel like you are creating a better life for yourself and taking action. It doesn’t come without sacrifice of something, but it always pays off in the end. Being here now in this moment of our own new home and a town that seems to have everything we were looking for (direct train to Paris, Ocean, Mountains, and a population of around ten thousand people) I can see the importance of all the sacrifices that lead me here. Patience “wait and see” as my mom would say. It’s not something that came very natural to me but is something that I have learned to see the value in.

After a year in some type of hibernation I am ready to take on this life in France. I plan to make even more changes and be the person who I hope to see in others. Having learned to drive manual, speak a new language, only see family 1 time in 365 days, makes me feel like I have the strength to do so much more.

My first step is to slowly remove myself from the instagram scene, creating a more analog life. Film photos, Printed albums, Hand written letters, Sharing my journaled thoughts here, and most importantly spending time in nature. I am so tired of seeing the evolution of us all looking down, scrolling every minute there isn’t something distracting you from your phone, needing immediate gratification, and worst of all not connecting in the present with our community. As a society we have really gotten lost. To me “The American Dream” well - to me is no dream at all. I’m here to continue being the example I can only hope others will be inspired by.

Louis and I are co-working at our kitchen table this week, until we get a desk in one of the rooms. He just joined a meeting and is speaking a ton of distracting french. So, signing off for now. Join my email list to get emails to your inbox of my entries!
